Glenn Block, CPA/ABV, CVA
Glenn Block is a CPA and partner in the accounting firm of Block & Aldinger and has been employed by the firm since 1982. Prior to that, Mr. Block worked with a CPA firm in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area for two years. Mr. Block received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1979 from the American University in Washington, D.C. and belongs to the American Institute of CPA’s as well as the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA’s. In his current capacity as managing senior partner, Mr. Block provides services to the firm’s clients such as tax consulting, including federal and state business taxation, individual tax planning, financial planning, bankruptcy, business valuations, litigation support, forensic accounting, marital dissolution proceedings, and estate tax planning. Mr. Block is specialized in the area of forensic accounting and frequently retained in matters involving lost profit damage calculations as well as other forensic matters. He is also specialized in the area of Pennsylvania family law as it pertains to child and spousal support calculations as well as equitable distribution. Mr. Block has prepared numerous business valuations, has testified in court as an expert witness on many occasions, and has also been appointed by the court in several matters to perform business valuations as an independent valuation expert in divorce proceedings and has also served as an arbitrator in civil litigation matters. Mr. Block has previously served on both the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Divorce Conference Committee as well as the Forensic & Litigation Services Committee. Those committees have now been superseded by the newly formed Transaction Advisory Services Committee to which Mr. Block has been appointed and currently serves. Mr. Block is credentialed as a Certified Valuation Analyst, (CVA) and belongs to the National Association of Certified Valuators & Analysts (NACVA). He has a l s o been awarded an Accredited in Business Valuation credential (ABV) through the American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA). Mr. Block frequently lectures before groups on different topic matters and has presented at past NACVA, AICPA and Accounting Today national conferences. He has lectured to the Connecticut NACVA Chapter in October 2015 on “Techniques for Discovering Hidden Assets” as well as the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA’s Annual Divorce Conference held in October 2015 on the topic matter “How to Successfully Build Your Matrimonial and Forensic Litigation Practices”. Mr. Block presented in November 2017 at the NACVA Chicago Financial Litigation and Expert Witness Super-Conference and again in June 2018 at the NACVA National Conference held in Las Vegas on the topic, “How to “Successfully” Build and Market Your Matrimonial and Forensic Litigation Practices. He presented at the NACVA CTI Conference in Ft. Lauderdale in November 2018 on the subject matter of engagement letters, and on the same topic again in November 2019 before the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA’s (PICPA) in King of Prussia, PA at their annual Forensic Litigation and Business Valuation state wide conference. He also presented in September 2020 before the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) 2020 Business Valuation Conference on the topic matter of engagement letters. Mr. Block Co-chaired the 2021 NACVA Business Valuation and Forensic Litigation Super National Conference that was held in Park City, UT in June of 2021. He was awarded and honored to receive NACVA’s prestigious “Outstanding Member Award” in the 3rd quarter of 2021. Mr. Block was a keynote speaker and has presented again before the Pennsylvania Institute of CPA’s in October 2022 at the statewide TASC conference which was hosted at Penn State campus in Malvern, PA. The topic presented was “Firm Profitability, Practice Building and Business Development” which is about Mr. Block’s success story in practicing in the fields of business valuation and forensic accounting. Effective June 1, 2023, Mr. Block was appointed to serve for a 2 year term to NACVA’s Leadership Initiative Board (http://www.nacva.com/lib). This board comprises of senior NACVA members chosen by the Executive Advisory Board to serve as a “Think Tank” to further assist the organization in achieving its highest goals for the future of the valuation profession as a whole. Mr. Block is an expert in security with over 40 years of experience selling, installing and servicing residential and commercial burglar alarm, fire alarm and video surveillance systems. In June 2023, Mr. Block sold his security company to a nationally recognized security and fire alarm company. Mr. Block has served two consecutive 4 year terms as elected Commissioner of South Whitehall Township, a community of approximately 20,000 citizens with his 2nd 4 year term ending in 2019. Prior to that, Mr. Block served 7 years on the South Whitehall Township Zoning Board.
Karen A. Aldinger, CPA
Karen joined the firm as a staff accountant in 1991 and became a partner in the firm in July 1999. She graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. After graduating from college, she worked as a staff accountant at a CPA firm based out of Reading, PA prior to joining this firm. She is directly involved in the preparation of financial statements and tax returns for the firm’s clients, including business, individual, trust, non-profit and estate tax returns, and meets with clients to discuss business and tax planning strategies. She has also worked with the local bankruptcy trustee to provide both accounting and tax services for the US Bankruptcy Court. She is a member of both the American Institute of CPAs and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. In her free time, she enjoys music, vacationing with her husband, playing with her golden retriever, and cheering on her favorite Penn State and Philadelphia sports teams.
